Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and innovative Research & Development Engineer to join our team in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and evaluate new medical devices and technologies that align with customer needs and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Marketing to ensure requirements are aligned throughout the product lifecycle.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand market trends, competitive landscape, and potential applications for new technologies.
- Participate in prototype development, testing phases, and clinical evaluations to validate product performance and effectiveness.
- Document design processes, performance evaluations, and development protocols adhering to internal and external standards.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and performance standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in product development or engineering roles within the medical device industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of designing successful engineering solutions.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA regulations) and experience with quality management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
